The reason most homemade sling bags look homemade is depth. They're built like little boxes and they stick out from the body.
This one is drafted shallow and slightly tapered, so it lies flat against the chest or the back and moves with you instead of swinging. Rounded corners, a front zip pocket set into the panel seam, an adjustable webbing strap with a slider, and a curved top yoke that lets the strap sit straight rather than dragging the bag sideways.
It's a small bag with a small parts list — three fabric colours, one zip, one slider — which makes it an ideal first structured bag. Every seam is short, so nothing gets unwieldy under the machine, and the colour blocking means you're only cutting simple shapes.
