The pockets are on the outside, and that's the whole point.
Your phone, your notebook and your card holder sit in their own slots around the outside of the bag, where you can reach them without digging through everything else. The main compartment stays free for the big things.
The tote has a flat boxed base so it stands up on its own, straps stitched through the pocket band so they're anchored across the full height of the bag, and a structured body that holds its rectangle shape. A clean, useful bag with no hardware, no zip and no fiddly curves.
