PDF quilt pattern · Table runner plus 4 placemats · Beginner · Written instructions with cutting charts and diagrams · Instant download — no physical item shipped

There are no curves, no appliqué and no templates in this entire set. It's strips of fabric, cut straight, sewn at an angle.

That's the chevron: parallel bands of red, green and cream meeting at a centre line down the length of the runner, with pointed ends that finish without needing a separate border. The placemats use the same fabrics in a simple four-patch, so the set reads as a matching group without being five copies of the same thing.

It's the quilting equivalent of a straight-line project — if you can cut accurately and sew a consistent quarter-inch seam, the chevron aligns itself. The visual effect is entirely out of proportion to the difficulty.

A runner and four placemats from one fat quarter bundle, finished over a weekend. Which makes it the Christmas table set people actually complete in time to use.

⚙️ How It Works

  1. Download instantly. Your files arrive the moment your order is confirmed — nothing is shipped.
  2. Cut your strips. Follow the cutting chart — this is the step that determines whether the chevron lines up.
  3. Piece the bands. Sew the strips together, then cut and join at the angle to form the chevron.
  4. Quilt and bind. Layer, quilt, bind, and the set is on the table for the weekend.
