The hobo shape does the work — a wide curved body that narrows towards the base, with the strap cut as part of the bag rather than sewn on. No hardware, no zip, no closure to fight with. The single curved seam at each side is the only shaping in the whole thing, and it's what gives the bag its soft slouch against the hip.
It's the pattern to make when you want something finished today. Two hours from cutting to carrying, and it takes barely a yard of fabric — so a single length of a print you love makes the whole bag, including the strap.
