One pair of old jeans makes about a dozen of these.

Each angel is a small denim bell shape with lace wings, a wooden bead for the head and a twine loop to hang it. Buttons down the front, a twine bow at the neck, and that's the whole thing — no stuffing, no turning, no fiddly closures.

The reason they look good as a set is that they don't match. Every pair of jeans has three or four different shades in it — the faded knee, the dark seat, the worn hem — and cutting from all of them gives you a collection with real tonal variation instead of a dozen identical shapes. Seams, topstitching and the odd pocket edge become surface detail rather than something to avoid.

Beginner level and quick. A full set for the tree is one afternoon, and they cost essentially nothing to make — which is exactly why they end up as teacher gifts, neighbour gifts and gift-tag decorations by the dozen.

🛍️ Materials Needed

  • Old jeans — the more worn, the better the variation
  • Lace doilies or wide lace trim
  • Wooden beads and jute twine
  • A handful of small buttons
  • Sewing machine, or hand-sew if you prefer
  • Fabric scissors — denim blunts them, so not your good pair
  • Heavy-duty or denim machine needles
  • Printer and paper

⚙️ How It Works

  1. Download instantly. Your files arrive the moment your order is confirmed — nothing is shipped.
  2. Cut up the jeans. Print the templates at 100% and cut from the different shades across the garment.
  3. Sew the bodies. Straight seams, no turning — the shapes come together fast.
  4. Add wings, bead and bow. Layer the lace, thread the bead onto the twine, tie the bow, and hang it.

This is a digital PDF sewing pattern — an instant download, not finished ornaments and not a kit. No denim, lace, beads or physical items will be shipped. All sales are final once the files have been downloaded. Personal use and small-scale handmade selling are welcome; the pattern files, photos and instructions may not be resold, shared or redistributed.

Safety note: these ornaments contain small parts including wooden beads and buttons. They are decorations, not toys, and are not suitable for children under three.
