PDF quilting pattern · Decorative free-standing witch hat · Confident beginner / intermediate · Patchwork brim, ruffled band, bendable curved tip · Instant download — no physical item shipped

This is not a costume hat. It is a quilted centrepiece that sits on a table, a porch bench or a hall console and makes the whole corner look decorated.

The brim is a pieced patchwork mat — stars, polka dots and appliquéd black cats — that lies flat like a table topper on its own. The cone stands upright from a stiffened base, the ruffled band circles the join, and the tip curves over with a small stuffed heart hanging from it. Take the cone off and you still have a quilted round mat you can use under a candle.

It's a satisfying project rather than a quick one: real piecing, real appliqué, a bit of quilting. The kind of make people photograph and post.

⚙️ How It Works

  1. Download instantly. Files arrive the moment your order is confirmed — nothing is shipped.
  2. Print at 100%. Check the test square, then cut your patchwork pieces and templates.
  3. Piece and quilt the brim. Follow the piecing diagram, add the cat appliqués, quilt and bind — at this point you already have a usable table mat.
  4. Build and set the cone. Stiffen, stitch, add the ruffle and the curved stuffed tip, and stand it on the brim.
