A log cabin block cut into the shape of a pumpkin. The strips run vertically, so they read as the ribs of the pumpkin instead of as a quilt block — and the whole thing is cut with the scalloped silhouette that makes it recognisable from across a room.
Diamond quilting across the strips, a small brown stem at the top, and a bound edge following the curves. Two sizes: a placemat that takes a full dinner plate, and a smaller one for a candle or a centrepiece.
