A maple leaf cut and pieced from five wedge sections, each one in a different print, then quilted along the veins so the segments lift slightly apart.
The binding is what makes it: a single contrast green traced around the whole outline, following every point and notch of the leaf shape. That line is why it reads as a leaf on a table rather than a blob of fabric.
Each one takes a couple of fat-eighths and an hour. A set of four is a finished gift.
